E.On has proposed the installation of 7 wind turbines across the Denshaw moors.

This was communicated to residents around the first 2 weeks of October in 2003 and the planning application was submitted on the 16th December.

This means that, should planning guidelines be followed - and Oldham like to do this if nothing else - then the plans could be passed by early March.

We do not feel that this is sufficient time to consider the impact of 9 structures that are 3/4 the height of Blackpool Tower on a valued moorland.

What, after all, is the hurry? The Roman sites that may be disturbed by the building have been here for 2,000 years. The flora and fauna may still be here in a further 2,000 years, although this is open to question if developments of this nature proceed.

Do we not owe it to our local heritage and environment to give more time for this decision than the average election campaign or "run up to Christmas"?

There follows over the next few pages details of the proposal by E.On.
