Saddleworth is recognised as a special place in the Pennines. It encompasses sites of Special Scientific Interest, Sites of Biological Importance, Sites of Archaeological Significance and many other special designations. It is denoted in its entirety as "Green Belt" land and many of the moors are home to rare flora and fauna.

Just take a ten minute walk from one of the roads across the moors and you can "hear the silence". You can look out across miles of open moor land and beautiful scenery and have a glimpse of the open countryside. An all too rare commodity in modern Britain.

Place your mouse over the picture to get an idea of the size of the turbines. This is a view from the Pennine Way - looking over Great Hill and Lurden Top - so only 1 turbine would be seen from this view - the other six would be just to the left (literally another 1 or 2 degrees over).
