This is an archive of various articles about wind power issues and related topics.

The titles are fairly self explanatory - they are taken from various media, including national and international press and TV.

The content of the articles does not necessarily represent or reflect the views of anyone except the author.

Prince Charles: Wind Farms are horrendous.

"Video Nation" clip from the BBC about a chap in Cornwall concerned about the effect turbines will have on the tourist trade. It is interesting to note the remarkably blinkered comments on the site about the gentleman's views - one simply says "N.I.M.B.Y". Good to see the BBC is promoting an enlightened debate on the issue.

The link takes you to the "Video Nation" site, from there you can click on the video but will need "Real Player" to view it. It's a little beyond me to have it hosted here and it would also break copyright. Which is naughty.

Offshore wind farms a "risk to shipping"

It must have taken quite a leap to figure that one out! Still, it makes good copy I guess.

Article in the Economist about why far more onshore turbines are being built than expected

Wind Energy Projects "harmful to the environment" says Dr Bellamy.

Wind Farms - "The new leylandii?"

Non resident multi millionaire proposes 36 turbines - each 360 feet high - in an area populated by Golden Eagles. I am certain that this man will be concerned about global warming, not the expected £120,000 pa that this will bring. I am equally certain that there isn't enough wind in the Bahamas - where he usually lives - to support these structures. Otherwise, he would surely have them built there as the greenhouse gases supposedly saved will be the same wherever they are built?

Daily Telegraph article citing proven cases of property values dropping dramatically in areas nearby wind farm developments.

The wind energy industry simply can't ignore the weight of evidence building in this respect. Several examples are given of significant house value reductions near to wind turbine developments. It's common sense to most people, but of course if you have an agenda that includes guaranteed profit for 15 years you may be liable to ignore this side of the debate.

Daily Telegraph article about the relentless march of wind turbines across our landscape.

Shock as John Prescott's Department revealed not to care about the countryside.

The new planning statement, PPS22, encourages building of wind turbines right up to the boundaries of National Parks - thus ensuring that everyone can see these buildings wherever they are. Still, it will give us all a Ready Brek (tm) like glow when we realise that our countryside is being polluted for the benefit of a flawed idea the Government has about the environment. I'm just trying to think of another important issue where the Government ignored the available data to proceed on a pre determined course which ruined thousands of lives. I'm sure there's one out there...

Point of interest:

Of the few newspapers that offer search facilities, here are links to articles in their archives about "wind turbines"

The Daily Telegraph, an excellent source of healthy cynicism about wind power.

The Guardian is somewhat predictably vaguely in favour of wind power.

The Independent seems to give a mixture of articles. Maybe the name does mean something after all...

Google News is the source you would expect to give a genuinely unbiased view as there is apparently little or no human intervention or editing.
