Dear
Mr Wilson
Re: Plans to locate Wind Turbine and ‘Compound’ on
Registered Common Land
Further to our telephone conversation earlier to-day I am writing to express my concern and opposition to the plans by United Utilities apparently to site one of their 350 foot Wind Turbines and their works ‘Compound’ on Registered Common Land between Dowry Water and the A640 Huddersfield Road approximately 1 mile from Denshaw Village .
I
am concerned that in the statements reported in the local press United
Utilities don’t seem aware of any restrictions on the land they own adjacent to
the reservoirs at Dowry. My understanding is that and proposals for building on
Registered Common Land requires the permission of the Secretary of State and
that Oldham Metropolitan Borough is not in the final instance the authority
that grants planning permission for any
development on Registered Common Land although any works could require planning
permission from both DEFRA and Oldham MBC.
As
a Parish Councillor representing the
community most effected by United Utilities proposals I can assure you that there is widespread
opposition to the siting of this and the other wind turbines from local
residents in Delph and Denshaw. I am
also concerned that a fence has been erected on the registered common land next
to the Huddersfield Road. Has permission been granted for this ?
I
enclose a map showing where I believe the Wind Turbine and compound will be
sited.
Yours
truly
Cllr
Ken Hulme
