Renewables campaign planned

The DTI is set to launch a new campaign to raise awareness of the
renewable energy market in the UK, as the government continues its push towards
a wider uptake of the technology. ‘It’s Only Natural’ will be aimed at planners
and investors, and highlight the benefits of green power as a key energy source.
"Our campaign will leave nobody in any doubt that renewables are at the
heart of the Government's energy policy," commented Energy Minister Stephen
Timms, at the first national Wave and Tidal Energy Conference this week. "The
extension of the Renewables Obligation to 2015 has given the industry the
confidence it needs to secure investment in new projects. Now this campaign will
reinforce that message to investors and also equip planners with the tools they
need to determine planning applications.”
The £200,000 campaign will
involve workshops, a conference, internet presence and other media initiatives.
